The story

The known story of the manor house dates back from the sixteenth century. In those days the « Val au Grangier » is a farming land for the Ballan's templars. In 1751, Mathieu Bayeux, inspector general and king's architect acquires the land and restructures the estate. As a civil engineer, he launches in 1758 a grand project to build a bridge accross the river Loire. The construction will last from 1765 to 1777 to become the Wilson Bridge in Tours.

of the manor house...

Towards the end of the eighteenth century, Mathieu Bayeux dies without progeny, at the age of 84, in Château du Vau. The estate is sold by his widow. Several families acquire the property along the nineteenth century, one of which: the Salleyx family is mentionned in Balzac's correspondance. My great grand father, André Caron, both military and industrial, purchases Chateau du Vau towards the end of the nineteenth century, and five generations have passed it on to me .

... and the story of your host.

At the end of the nineties, I decided to leave Paris and my dear studies to take over my Grand Mother's property and convert it to a Bed & Breakfast. It is quickly identified by the main tourist guides of these times (Michelin guide, Alastar Sawday's, Guide du Routard, Bienvenu au château).

Running this hospitality business, I have had the pleasure to welcome guests from all over the world who come to admire the French heritage in the Loire Valley. I then decided at the end of the years 2000 to extend my accommodation offer to two log cabins perched in the trees of the park. Taking advantage of the presence of majestic and century-old trees, the cabins offer the possibity to live in great intimacy with nature and the surrounding environment. Is it necessary to travel far to feel elsewhere?
